Eco-Index

Have you heard of the Eco Index? The Eco Index was created by the Apparel Coalition and has the potential to significantly change what kind of products consumers buy with an intricate rating system. This is the result of over 100 companies working together for one goal. That goal is to give consumers the opportunity to understand the impact certain products have on the environment including everything from the material the product is made from to the end life of the product.

Reality or Perception

I just read a great article by Steven Cristol titled “Is Your Brand’s Sustainability Really Worth Talking About?

In this article Mr. Cristol lays out several useful points about the communication of sustainability and discusses the difference between a brands reality and perception.

Rethink Fabrics sponsors Charity Event for green education

Rethink Fabrics supported a charity event to raise awareness for green education nationwide. RETHINK: GREEN ART EXHIBITION & CHARITY EVENT took place on Saturday, November 6th in Culver City California.  The event was a beautiful gathering of star-studded attendees came together for a night of good cheer and to raise awareness for green education nationwide. The event boasted over 600+ persons in the unique venue that featured a sustainable art exhibit, organic wine, spirits, beer and local food tasting, interactive displays and much more.

"RPET is collected, cleaned, smashed, melted, polymerized, and finally spun into yarn—and ultimately into the Rethink fabric and products. The products are all certified and traceable and adhere to manufacturing and social compliance standards. All of the t-shirts display a bottle count that show the number of plastic bottles used in each product".

Cotton pricing has been on the rise due to the shortage of Cotton worlwide due to to prolonged drought (Can you say global warming!). US retailers will have to pay more for apparel next year.
